Definitions: Cybersquatting
Chris Jaeger Cybersquatting Cybersquatting is the bad-faith registration or use of a brand related or company related domain name. A cybersquatter will typically register a number of domain names tangentially related to a certain brand in order to extort an exorbitant "finder's fee" from the brand rights holder. These type of bad-faith registrations can cause customer confusion / dissatisfaction, especially if they are linked to look-a-like websites intended to siphon off legitimate business or capture customer information inappropriately or illegally (i.e. credit card information).
